We denote by the term\u00a0“turning”<\/strong> the machining process in which a lathe is used to remove excess material from metal; there are several tools that, in conjunction with the lathe, allow you to achieve exactly the result you are looking for.<\/p>\n

This process takes place through the work of the machinery – the lathe<\/strong> – on which the workpiece is fixed; the latter undergoes a rotary motion and is engraved by a tool that, in contact with the metal component<\/strong>, removes excess material and shapes the surface.<\/p>\n

What is the purpose of turning?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As mentioned earlier,\u00a0turning operations<\/strong> are of paramount importance to obtain particular metal components with holes or notches on both the inner and outer surfaces; in the case of particularly small\u00a0metal components<\/strong>, these are identified as turned metal small parts.<\/p>\n

The main\u00a0turning operations\u00a0<\/strong>are:\u00a0drilling, tapping\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0reaming<\/strong>.
\nThe first,\u00a0metal drilling<\/strong>, is the process by which the cutting tool enters the workpiece, creating a hole; the second,\u00a0metal tapping<\/strong>, is the operation by which internal threading-performed after the process of drilling by means of a tap – can be achieved;\u00a0reaming<\/strong>, on the other hand, is the process of finishing holes that, in contrast to what was seen previously, is performed while the workpiece is in motion and the tool remains stationary.<\/p>\n

These operations take place on the inner surface of the metal component while, on the outer surface of the metal, the most important machining operations<\/strong> are: grooving and threading<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
